As Ian White goes back for the puck in his own zone, Blake Wheeler shoves him from behind & White goes crashing into the boards. Although slow to get up, White was fine but amazingly, Wheeler didn't get a penalty. A little while later, Colton Orr attacks Wheeler along the boards. Wheeler doesn't fight back & as a result, the zebras throw the rulebook at Orr, handing him a well deserved double minor.

I'm not sure where Fisher was last year but wherever he was, he's not there anymore. No sireeee! He's back scoring goals & helping this team. Too bad this fine effort from him went to waste though.

On a powerplay with about 6 minutes left in regulation, Nick Foligno comes around the net on his backhand & somehow finds a way to sneak it through Steve Mason, who appeared to have the post covered. The goal made it 2-1 & the Sens would hold on to win the game by that very score. :)

On a late, 3rd period powerplay, the New York Rangers get several great chances on Brian Elliot. First, Elliot stops a long wrister from the point. Then, Chris Higgins gets two great chances - The first one he puts off the post & the second one is turned aside by Elliot, who appeared to be done. Seconds later, PA Parenteau misses a WIDE OPEN NET after taking a nice cross ice pass. Much to my dismay, Parenteau later went on to score the shootout winner of this close affair.

Mike Fisher sure has come back nicely after a dismal year last season. In this situation, after drawing a penalty to Blair Betts for hitting him from behind, he takes a nice pass from Kovalev down low & fires a PERFECT backhander far side on former Sens goalie Ray Emery to tie the game 1-1 on the powerplay.
