Skyworks Rugby mast 360 degree aerial view

One of the 820 feet Rugby Radio Station masts from the old VLF radio station. 8 were demolished out of 12 at one time in 2004; then the remaining four were demolished in 2007. Many years ago an ice storm heavily damaged them.

Speaker level home made headphones

Speaker level home made headphones

Powered by an amp not a headphone variable line level output connection. I just put RCA 30 watt six ohm mid range speakers in an old pair of earmuffs that had a large hollow area. All I did was remove the foam piece and cut the inside rim a little to fit the speakers which I just screwed into the plastic. These are probably the loudest headphones ever made.

Playing a record with a sewing needle and paper

Playing a record with a sewing needle and paper

This was this kid's Physics of Sound project. It surprised me a little to see it work so well since the needle is not likely the same size as a phonograph needle.

Bent radio tower part two

Bent radio tower part two

Video response to part one of this. Located off thistle street, Dead Frog Hollow in Hall/Penn Yan New York. In the middle of a field with no access road. It seems to be a weather tower; it only has anemometers (wind speed measurement) on it. It has stays at six different levels (24 total) but they are all very loose; with enough slack to make waves in them and to move the stake holding them in the ground around.

Google weather app claims it is 90 degrees and sunny in New York in December!!!

Look at the two Alfred weathers; they say two different things... When you do a weather search they are not false; only on the igoogle Personalized page itself.

Woofer excursion test

Woofer excursion test

All infrasonic frequencies shake my house as my box is tuned to 15 Hertz; which is TOO low; yes it is quite possible to be too low. AT 45 Hertz, I get MORE excursion than 15 Hertz because it is so high above the tuning frequency that it messes it all up. It's terribly distorted at frequencies over 30 Hertz.

Bent antenna tower with loose stays

Bent antenna tower with loose stays

This tower is about 200 feet high and has no access road or building; and the wires going up it are small; I think it is only for the five anemometers that are on it. It is moderately bent and EVERY guy wire on it is loose; extremely loose; basically just hanging by their own weight. So loose even that the stakes holding the guys to the ground had slack in them. It was not a lattice tower but rather a hollow aluminum pole; located in Dead Frog Hollow on Thistle Street in Penn Yan, New York....

15 Hertz and 15 FPS frame rate subwoofer trick

15 Hertz and 15 FPS frame rate subwoofer trick

The speaker in this video is moving at full tilt excursion with a signal generator putting out a clean 15 Hertz bass tone. Look how my finger doesn't even appear to be touching the speaker yet you can hear it knocking. Also, observe how wildly the stopper bounces around and off the woofer as if by magic. The only speaker motion you can see is the effect the stopper has when it hits the cone.
