Turning Alabaster Stone A brief movie on turning Alabaster on a wood lathe. This is stone I got in the Pan Handle of Texas. It makes a lot of dust so a good vacuum system is a must. Wear a Mask also. Alabaster is a Easy stone to turn, so is soapstone. On a scale of 1-10 soapstone is a 1, alabaster a 2 to 3, Diamonds are a 10. Using Carbide tips on the end of the handles.
