I tried, really hard, to make this properly with After Effects CS4 + Pixel Bender Droste effect, but it just wouldn't happen on my machine in less than 50 hours of render time :( .. guess it's time for an upgrade to dual quads and oodles of ram hehe. After failing hard at After Effects, I instead quickly hand animated 12 layers of the photo in Photoshop using the Droste filter with increasing levels of zoom (0 to 4). Then exported those 12 layers as flat images to Movie Maker (yuck!) at 720p ...
