Francesca Cavallari, young researcher at CERN: The Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment

Francesca Cavallari studied physics at the Rome University "La Sapienza", where she did also her PhD. Her thesis was about the measurement of the mass of the W boson at the L3 experiment at LEP. Then she started to work on the CMS experiment and in particular on the electro-magnetic calorimeter. She did some R&D work on the crystals and on the APD (avalanche photodiodes).
