Law helps school-age military kids to adjust
Moving around is a way of life for many in the military, but for children with military parents, transitioning between schools is always a challenge. Now, officials at Holloman Air Force Base are trying to make it easier for students. Tina Keene and her family know relocating is a way of life, recently moving from Texas to Holloman Air Force Base. "When we move, it's typically every two to three years, and it's kind of like what's the best time of the year to pull the kids of out of school?" said Keene. Keene worries how her children will transition from one place to another. States often have different requirements for students in each grade, and her son was in an accelerated learning program. "When we moved from Texas he had qualified there, but here in New Mexico they wouldn't recognize that, so we had to wait until the school year started this year."
