PROMISED LAND Trailer

PROMISED LAND Trailer

The National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC) is one of the funders of PROMISED LAND, a documentary film directed & produced by Yoruba Richen. The trailer is posted here with the producer/director's authorization for promotional purposes. Promised Land invites viewers to take an inside look at the critical story of land reform and racial reconciliation in the new South Africa. The film explores how the country is rebuilding itself after years of living under the racist, violent system of apartheid. Beginning in 1913, Blacks in South Africa were forbidden from owning land. They were forcefully removed from their land and re-settled into so called 'homelands' which were located in the most undesirable areas in the country. Over the course of ninety years, an estimated 6 million blacks were dispossessed of their land. Promised Land follows the story of the Mekgareng, an impoverished tribe removed from their land 40 years ago. In 1998, they petitioned the new democratically elected...

New beginning dollars

New beginning dollars

I asked people impromptu to select from four possible patters or story telling on a trick I was going to show them. 1. was pro-life, 2. was pro-racial reconciliation, 3. was bible read through, and 4. was 'new beginnings', all themes in January. They selected 'new beginnings' and this is what I did. The video ends early but my last line was that 'Jesus puts things in order and gives new beginnings'. Enjoy a January themed sleight of hand with dollar bills. The big money. LOL.
