On May 17, 1974, three months after the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst, a bunch of gun-wielding kooks from a group called the "Symbionese Liberation Army" barricaded themselves inside a house in Los Angeles, California, and began firing hundreds of rounds of ammunition at the police.
