I was taking apart my Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 tonight and was just impressed with the build quality of the lens. This piece is the part that the camera body uses to change/read the aperture of the lens. This same part in different forms is found in every Nikon lens although the newer lenses generally use plastic pieces instead of metal and don't use the ring of ball bearings. Shot with D300s and onboard mic.
