OREGON INLET, NC - Coast Guard crews hoisted three people and their dog to safety Saturday morning as conditions worsened for the crew aboard a grounded fishing trawler on the Oregon Inlet Bar. Friday night the 77-foot Sheila Rene's crew contacted Sector North Carolina watchstanders on VHF channel 16 requesting help after their trawler grounded on the bar. I was at the beach taking sunset pictures on the Oregon coast when of a sudden the sun caused this strange and crazy shot of laser appearing light that appears to be focused on the two people walking by the Ocean. This was caused of course by the camera lens but is quite the little show of imaginary extraterrestrials. I have never seen anything quite like it . Enjoy! ... (re-edit with pictures from the day) Pacific halibut caught off the coast of Pacific City, Oregon in August of 2009. I had to let it go since the season was closed, but I'll be back out there next year! It ended up being 30-35 lbs. and thankfully, it still had plenty of spunk left when I let it go.
