During a sunny May afternoon, Norfolk Southern train 39G heads west through Neversink. The two dash 9s up front are working hard to keep the train moving. Not the most exciting shot, but it provides a good look at what the train is carrying, including an ex-NW gondola in the front, HK stone hoppers, and a variety of boxcars, including a CNW car. A pair of westbound Norfolk Southern trains is seen passing through Neversink during the morning of May 16, 2009. First, general freight train 34M shows up with two dash 9s leading a decent train of mostly tankers and new-ish gondolas. The engineer blows the horn a few extra times for me. After catching a pair of trains the previous day, I headed out early Sunday morning for some more action. On a Saturday afternoon in April, a pair of westbound freights is seen passing through Neversink with a conrail leader on each. First, loaded slab train 67Z thunders through with a dash 8 leader that has a blaring RS3L complementing the loud train. Also, notice how the ditch lights are not flashing as the train approaches the crossing. Second, train 39G is seen with conrail blue SD60M 6773 leading.
