or Pikachu as your starter, you need a supporting Pokemon in your upcoming battle against Brock! If you didn't get a Mankey from Route 22, then capture a Caterpie right here and now. Raise it to level 7 so it evolves into a Metapod, then raise the Metapod to level 10 so it becomes a Butterfree and learns Confusion, an extremely useful move. fact Bulbasaur is resistant to the poisoned status (being part poison), and it proves an obvious choice to not use Pidgey much. A Spearow with Peck is good for here, or a Charmander that has learned Ember will breeze through. For Kakunas and Metapods, start the battle with Leech Seed, as it's damage is not effected by the effects of Harden. If you hunt around for long enough, you can catch a Pikachu if you wish. If you know about weaknesses, you'll notice the buggy message 'not very effective' ...
