Two important collections of mélodies d´Orient were available in France, in the beginning of the 20th century: the collection of Bourgault-Ducouday and the cylinders of Hubert Pernault in the Institut du Grec Modern in the Sorbonne. Transcriptions in notes were made by MD Calvocoressi (friend of Ravel) and Paul Leflemme.
