on my FireRed, I did about 2000 Paras encounter before switching my target to Tangela. I searched for shiny Tangela and did about 1000 encounters toward the end of Janurary. However, after I saw three people find their shiny Tangelas (Kakkadragon, KaosDarkrai, and TheFriendlyBee), I was much more inspired to continue the hunt.
