Multidrug Binding Transcription Factor: BmrR-DNA Complex

binding to various drugs up-regulates the expression of the bmr multidrug efflux transporter gene by binding to the promoter sequence. In this structure, various chemicals, zinc, citrate, propanediols, trifluoroethanol and imidazoles, are bound to the pocket and cause expulsion of Tyr-152 from the pocket inducing the structural change leading to DNA binding (3d71.pdb: ref. Newgerry et al. JBC v283 p26795).
