Sony HDR-FX7 low light tips to reduce noise

I've heard people always complain about the Sony HDR-FX7 camcorder sucking in dim light conditions. Have you tried to jack down the gain? It'll reduce the noise (sometimes at the price of darker footage) and in really low light scenarios I'd also reduce the shutter speed. Although doing these tweaks can drastically improve your video quality I also still use a video light attachment whenever possible. More info at www.videomaker.com
