GAVI Alliance Partners' Forum: Introduction of Pneumococcal Vaccine in Rwanda
International leaders in global health joined Rwandan government officials to launch the first national immunization program against pneumococcal disease in a developing country. Pneumococcal disease, which can cause potentially life-threatening illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis, is the leading vaccine-preventable killer of children younger than five worldwide.

GAVI Alliance Partners' Forum : Innovative Finance
GAVI uses two mechanisms to help overcome historic limitations to development funding for immunization. These mechanisms are the AMC and the IFFIm. AMC reflects the need to meet disproportionately high costs in the early stages of implementing aid programmes; IFFIM helps provide developing countries with sustainable, predictable funding.
