The Frozen Bow River - Winter (2009-2010)
The Bow River without ice in late September 2009. Then ice begins to form in early December (0:32). By mid - December 2009, the river is frozen solid (3:15). The ice scape here is referred to as 'deformed ice' due to flowing water surging under the ice which causes the ice to squeeze together, forcing it upward and downward creating 'ridged', 'rafted' and 'hummocked' ice formations.
