Cylinder Vacuum Videos

Running the Onan Generator for the first time, then engine is a 4 cylinder, 12.5 kw single phase. It would not start before. Put new spark plugs in, installed vacuum gas regulator, and checked firing sequence on coil. A key difference between this generator and many others is it runs at 1800 rpm verses others which run at 3600. Ran it without the muffler and it sounded great!

I created a vacuum chamber consisting of two tufnol kite (bakelite) bulkheads either end of a glass cylinder. These tend to adsorb a lot of moisture and probably the other various solvents I cleaned the surfaces with. Inside this chamber is a piece of household aluminium foil over the exposed tufnol with smeared vacuum pump oil over the back of the foil. The video shows the chamber during the first pump-down, in the 500-100 micron range, and (what is presumably outgassing) is visualised....
