Canadian Wrestling's Elite was launched and debuted on January 23rd of 2009 with a main event still talked about today between Mentallo and "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson (now with WWE). CWE promised to bring the elite performers of not only Canadian wrestling to Winnipeg but from across the globe. In a highly charged political city like Winnipeg many "critics" were quick to say CWE wouldn't last or would be out of business after a few shows.
