ROLFS CABARET-ORKESTER: ALLIHOP Ä DE GALNA I MEJ (THEY GET WILD)

I have already written about Ernst Rolfs first tryout to be the boss of a record label and his collaboration with the British JE Hough Ltd (with the record label Edison Bell). I presented the recording Its a bird some time ago, played by an English studio band, lead (or maybe not lead) by Ernst Rolf. This is anyway a version of the song They get wild, in Sweden called Allihop ä de galna i mej, but it really doesnt matter which language you use since it is an instrumental recording. This was recorded about the same time as Its a bird and at the same place: London, April 1919. Just like all other Rolf Winner Succès-records, it shall be played in 80 rpm.

"Broadway Melody" by The Plaza Band

Here is something from my lateral collection, a British Edison Bell Winner disc with tune called "Broadway Melody" (From the sound film "Broadway Melody") played by The Plaza Band which was a pseudonym for Harry Hudson's Melody Men, a studio band that recorded many great sides for Edison Bell, both on the Winner label and the Radio Label. Harry Hudson (1898-1969) was an in-house bandleader for Edison Bell which was one of the first record companies in England. The firm was acquired by British Decca in 1933. Hudson recorded both under his name and under different pseudonyms. Later on, from 1947- 1953, Hudson was well-known as the pianist on Britain's first radio quiz program "Have A Go". This record is played on a HMV 97 portable phonograph. Sorry for the slow down at the end. I didn't wind it enough
