From: A Battle... and Then... With BlackZarak/Devil Z defeated, the job's done for the Godmasters. The Autobot transtectors (somehow) become sentient and take off into space, to chase down the (also now sentient) Decepticon transtectors. Each transtector has been imprinted with the personality of its former operator, and keeps the same name as well. Ginrai's transtector is named Ginrai, Minerva's transtector is named Minerva, etc. And thus endeth Masterforce. For now... ... Transformers ...

From: A Battle... and Then... In the climactic battle, Ginrai manages to take BlackZarak's head off. Shuta gets excited, but he's probably not aware BlackZarak used to the the Headmaster Scorponok. So, things are not over by a long-shot, with BlackZarak revealing a "serpent" mode. This mode is not an official one. Like Sixshot's "wing-wolf" mode in Headmasters, this mode is a result of the animators playing around with the toy. It's possible to form this mode, but it's far more kibblicious ...

From: God Ginrai - Save Cancer!? Confronted by both Road King and God Ginrai, BlackZarak calls forth his new minions - the Sparkdash. Pity they don't even last as long as this clip, making them even less useful than the Seacons. But not to worry. Like the Seacons, there's plenty more where they came from. They don't ever transform though, so this clip is more of an FYI. In the US they were called the Firecons, and were named Cindersaur, Flamefeather and Sparkstalker. ... Transformers ...

From: God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon As the Decepticons make a play for Earth, Ginrai reattaches Godbomber to enable him to intercept them. Grand Maximus isn't far behind either, taking on BlackZarak. Overlord, meanwhile, fares poorly against Ginrai.

also sent communiques to the Autobots. Here, he arrives to help out God Ginrai who is outnumbered and outgunned by the combined attacks of Overlord and BlackZarak. Wasting no time, Grand merges with the spaceship to become Grand Maximus, and take on BlackZarak, making it Battle of the Headmaster Redecos. A word on Grand Maximus. Unlike BlackZarak, who is an evolution of the Scorponok character, Grand is a different character - apparently Fortress' "brother" (who has never before been mentioned ...

From: God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon BlackZarak transforms back to scorpion mode to employ the age-old tactic of choking a robot. Which clearly makes even more sense in the airless vaccuum of space.

From: God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon For some reason, everyone's acting like they don't know who BlackZarak is, despite a whole lot of lead-up where everyone was worried about his arrival. Whatever. In any event, this was supposed to be his big reveal/transformation. Except that he was already clearly seen in the previous episode, not to mention already being in robot mode at the end of that episode. So much for the "Japanese cartoons have less errors in them" myth....

From: God Ginrai - Into the Sky!! The first appearance of BlackZarak's robot mode. Typical of Masterforce, the surprise is spoiled before the big reveal, and in this case it's in a hypothecial/dream/imaginary sequence where the Autobots discuss what would happen if Overlord and BlackZarak met up and Ginrai couldn't take both down by himself. BlackZarak is not only a remold of the G1 Scorponok toy, he's an evolution of the same character we saw in Headmasters. You'll notice the head has ...
