Let him knock out Cloud and Barret and then once he stops attacking just have Aeris physically attack. If you managed to get 4 Deadly Wastes from Smoggers earlier then use that on him and double up with physical attacks by Aeris.

I used the 2 Big Shot attacks to progress Barret further into learning Mindblow which helps out tremendously in future boss fights. Don't make the same mistake I did and assume that a Potion will keep you going, you can't keep up with healing that way. Difficulty: 2/5 1600 HP (Hundred Gunner) 1000 HP (Heli Gunner) Keep lobbing grenades at the Hundred Gunner until he dies. It takes 9 grenades to destroy Heli Gunner, so when it's time for Aeris to toss that last grenade, knock out Barret and Nanaki. This can get annoying when you're trying to knock out Barret and all Heli Gunner wants to do is attack Aeris.
