Some big band bop during the time Raeburn felt the need. ;) Not quite sure of the entire personnel of this cut, but I do know that James "Trummy" Young on trombone, Johnny Bothwell on alto sax, Shelly Manne on drums and, of course, the composer Dizzy Gillespie are all present. Great groove. :) Dig.....

Another one that I haven't been able to find a whole ot out about and another label I've not seen since I snagged it over 20 years ago. Anyone ever heard of the "Haven" label? Great club jazz, though - Argonne Thornton (an elusive musician on an elusive lavel ;) ) really sets the table nicely & Bill De Arango's guitar is exquisite. :) The personnel for this mid-late 1940's session are: Eddie Davis - tenor sax Bill De Arango - guitar Argonne Thornton - piano Eugene Ramey - bass Denzil Best ...

Again, perhaps someone out there could help with personnel and approximate date on this record? This is the only copy I've seen like this since I snagged it 23 years ago and I've not been able to find a thing out about it. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that was Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax, but, again, I can't be sure. Exceptional jazz, but still a mystery and any help identifying the wonderful musicians backing Dizzy & the approximate date would be greatly appreciated. :) Dig........
