Only those who have read Ian Flemming's spy thriller "Dr.No" know how the story ends. The filmed version shot in 1962 does not include the giant squid. I guess the director, Terence Young, who also directed "From Russia with Love" and "Thunderball", thought it would be repetitive to have Sean Connery wrestle with a sea monster like James Mason did in "20000 Leagues Under the Sea", 1954.
