The University of Sussex has introduced a range of new masters programmes in International Security. The programmes are taught across four departments and build upon a strong foundation of interdisciplinary. The programmes are set out below and examine the relevant issues from a challenging and critical perspective.

Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies (CRCEES). A consortium of the Universities of Glasgow, Nottingham, St Andrews, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Strathclyde, and the West of Scotland

Suitably qualified applicants from any branch of the Social Sciences and Humanities are invited to apply for Masters studentships and Postgraduate language diplomas for study in the 2009-10 academic year.

Applications are invited for the one-year MSc in Russian and East European Studies, University of Glasgow and for intensive one-year Postgraduate diplomas (PgDip) in Russian, Polish, Czech Serbian/Croatian and Slovene language.

Applications should send a covering letter, CV and two references to Ann Mulholland, CRCEES Administrator at the address below by 27th February 2009.

At least six scholarships are available for foreign students to enroll in the newly created Master’s of Software Engineering at University of Tartu, Estonia, This program will be jointly offered by Estonia’s two major universities: University of Tartu and Tallinn University of Technology.

In addition to a strong foundation in software engineering methods, this 2-years program will offer two specialisations: Enterprise Software and Embedded Real-Time Software. The program also includes professional internship opportunities. The language of instruction is English and the program is taught primarily by professors with international experience.

The Shell Centenary Scholarship Fund for Master Students, Imperial College London, UK

There are six scholarships available to prospective Masters Students of Imperial College London, intending to commence one of the specific eligible Masters courses in October 2009 – four Shell Centenary Chevening scholarships (jointly funded by TSCSF, Imperial College and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and two Shell Centenary scholarships (funded by TSCSF and Imperial College).

Candidates for these scholarships should normally be:

  • aged 35 or under
  • nationals of and resident in any country other than Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States and intending to return and take up permanent residence there after completion of the proposed programme of study
  • intending to study a subject that will be of significant value in aiding the sustainable development of their home country
  • of outstanding academic ability e.g. have obtained a degree equivalent to a first class honours degree at a British University
  • fluent in spoken and written English
  • neither a current nor former employee of the Royal Dutch Shell Group of Companies

Master grants for candidates from developing countries! NEW CALL!

This Ghent University programme provides master grants to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University. The grants are available for all master programmes at Ghent University. They are awarded for the duration of the studies with a maximum of 2 years. In case of a two-year-programme the scholarship will only be paid for the full term if the student successfully completes the first year of the programme.

The scholarship consists of an allowance of 964 euro per month plus the yearly tuition fee.
