Job Summary
Research and design new electro-mechanical products
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods in a cost effective way.
Manages project and design engineering efforts as required with inside and outside staffing sources.
Prepares Functional and Design FMEAs and assists in Process FMEAs
Designs product for meeting various agency approvals – MIL-STD, UL, CE, E-Mark, etc.
Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations that affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
Confers with research and manufacturing personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
Leads research and development activities as assigned.
Seeks, evaluates, and approves alternate source parts.
Prepares or directs preparation of product or systems layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
Plans and develops experimental test and reliability programs.
Analyzes test data and report to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Confers with outside research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses.
