Provides detailed information on applying for scholarship opportunities at various colleges, including financial data, elegibility requirements, contact information, and application advice for over three thousand scholarships.Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship at the Department of Sociology and The Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) for appointment in October 2008, or in accordance with further agreement.

The scholarship is part of a research initiative focusing on social welfare services for vulnerable groups (long-term unemployed, marginalised ethnic minorities, homeless persons, alcohol and drug abusers, vulnerable children, youths or elderly people) The aim is to analyse different types of interventions targeting these groups, to study the goals and methods involved and to develop and apply methods for evaluating the programmes. Research projects based on quantitative methods will be preferred. Applicants are invited to write a research proposal (max. 10 pages) within this broad field of social welfare research, describing the aim and focus of the planned PhD project, a theoretical framework and the methods and data to be used.

Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified applicants regardless of age, gender, race, religion or ethnic background.

The scholarship is part of the Graduate School for Integration, Production and Welfare, and jointly funded by The Department of Sociology, SFI and the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.

In order to be awarded a PhD scholarship the applicant has to enrol as a PhD student at the Department of Sociology, cf. the rules in the “Ministerial Order” No 18 of 14. January, 2008.

An assessment committee will evaluate the applications. The applicants will be notified of the composition of the committee. When the assessment committee has finished the evaluation, each applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns her or him.

Applications are welcomed from persons who have completed, or in the near future will complete a Master´s degree within sociology or adjacent disciplines. PhD students are paid salary in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The PhD student has to work in connection with teaching, etc. of up to 840 hours without additional pay.
