UNDERWRITING MANAGER

The Underwriting Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer in Singapore. He/she will promote stability and profitable growth by assisting the CEO and the local business team with the judicious acceptance and management of insurance and service risks and to establish and maintain local fronting strategic partnership relationships.

Key Responsibilities includes:

Deliver & price all product lines in complete and full compliance with Group Underwriting Guidelines and local business unit authority limits, which meet full compliance with local regulations

• To strictly enforce the Group Actuarial and Underwriting Services (GAUS) Referral procedures
• Monitor and survey key insurance risk exposures and reduce exposures through local and Group Reinsurance solutions
• Maintain the Group’s underwriting practice and governance in close liaison with the Head of Region Underwriting, Asia/Pacific Region
• Support the finance department in delivering and maintaining the Group’s reserving practice and governance, and insurance reporting standards
• Contribute to tender documents to aid the Business Development Team’s successful acquisition of profitable B2B customer relationships
• Develop and deliver service contracts, reinsurance contracts, and client contracts to support business development in close liaison with other key internal stakeholders
• Deliver periodic Risk Surveys

Requirement:

• Tertiary qualification and/or professional insurance qualification
• Minimum 2 yrs experience working in underwriting (preferably P&C)
• Sound knowledge in local Insurance and underwriting governance
• Good understanding of reinsurance arrangements and solutions
• Excellent communication, presentation and conceptual thinking skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
