Supplier Quality Engineer

We are a leading manufacturer of controllable pitch (CP) propellers with seven decades of market experience and a continuous program investment in Research & Development. We are seeking qualified candidates to join our team:

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement with suppliers on short/ term goals and actions to improve their manufacturing processes and systems for improvements in cost, quality and flexibility.
Interact routinely with Purchasing, Engineering and suppliers to pro-actively improve quality of components.
Develop audit plans, checklists and document and report audit results including any non-conformances.
Drive incoming quality by evaluating new and existing suppliers, resolving supplier issues to closure in a timely manner.
Monitor quality performance of suppliers and drive improvement plans. Develop and maintain supplier quality metrics.
Coordinate supplier corrective actions and perform follow-up verifications.
Provide support technical interface between the company and the supplier in interpretation and understanding of specifications and drawings.
Perform supplier Quality Systems audits and provide support for supplier Quality Systems improvements.
Compile and report key departmental and supplier performance.
Promote quality awareness throughout the company.
Provide and assist technical training to other employees.
Support and implement Berg Propulsion commodity strategic sourcing program.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marine, Shipbuilding, Naval Architecture or equivalent with at least 2 to 3 years working experience as supplier quality engineer in marine industry or the related field.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical and non-technical documents including but not limited to contracts, drawings, and specifications.
Knowledge of marine classification society’s rules and guidelines.
Team player with excellent communications skill to all levels.
Mature individual who is resourceful and independent, and possess good problem solving and interpersonal skills
Self motivated with good communication skills, computer literate, fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
Able to travel extensively and at short notice.
Experience in ISO9001 Quality Management System with formal audit training or experience is preferred.
