Radio Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation of Open and Confined Space Radio Coverage systems in support of the safe implementation of underground railway signalling projects as directed by the Lead Engineer.

The successful candidate will be an experienced radio systems engineer, with strong technical knowledge, capable of ensuring the successful delivery of a key system of a major project.

Key Duties:

Ensure that the RF design requirements are met and identify remedial action where instructed by the Lead Engineer.
Lead the implementation of the radio system ensuring that issues and challenges are swiftly addressed.
Assist in Radio Surveys and Installation both in confined spaces and in open areas.
Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of RF coverage design, in order that successful installation, testing work and project implementation ensures future reliability is achieved.
Assist in the preparation of RTS specifications for supply of equipment required for the RF Systems to obtain the best available deal for the Company.
Perform duties as directed by the Lead Engineer from time to time.

Requirements:

Successful track record and experience in implementing Open & Confined Space (ideally tunnel) radio systems at ISM bands (2.4GHz and 5.8GHz)
Qualification in Radio/RF Engineering
Experience in problem-solving in radio systems
Flexibility to work unsociable hours on site in various locations
Excellent communications and time management skills
Ability to work to budget and timescales
PC skills, in Word and Excel as a minimum

Desirable Requirements:

IRSE Telecommunications Designers Licence
Knowledge of working in a Railway environment
