QMS Manager Drydocks World – SE Asia

Drydocks World SE Asia are looking to recruit personnel to take up senior posts in their shipbuilding and rig building yards in Batam Indonesia. These are single status positions, based in Batam, with good terms and conditions coupled with productivity bonuses.

The right candidates must be able to develop and support an excellent safety culture and a sound knowledge of shipyard practices. They should also have significant practical experience in the rig or ship building sectors, having held senior position for a significant period. They must also have the ability to control a large multi-national workforce and plan projects for on time and on budget delivery is essential.

Working in these evolving yards in Batam requires a strong character who enjoys a challenge which will return enormous personal satisfaction. The successful candidates will join a large team of professionals who are poised to become world leaders in the rig building and offshore construction sectors.

Drydocks World wishes to recruit a suitably qualified Quality Manager for its busy rig and shipbuilding yards on Batam, Indonesia.

QMS Manager
(Based in Batam)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the QA/QC Manager with overall management of the Quality Management System in the business units within Batam.
Close liaison and interaction with Group Quality Management function
Ensure company’s QMS procedures are up to date and as a minimum conform to relevant standards and where practicable conform with International Best Practice
Coordinate with company Management, Owners, Contractors and other interested parties on QMS matters
Organise meetings and audits as required
Devise, implement, coordinate, conduct QMS training
Advise Senior Management on all QMS matters
Compile and oversee annual department budgets
Train, coach and mentor new recruits from the local market.

Requirements:

A time served background in rig/ship building, rig/ship repair, rig/ship conversion
Formal qualifications in QMS
Thorough knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2000
Preferably a Lead QMS Auditor
Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior QMS position within a shipyard with a multilingual workforce
Excellent command of English language (written, oral and reading)
Confident and able to effectively communicate at all levels
A ‘team’ player
An understanding of Bahasa Indonesian would be an advantage.

The successful applicant may be required to travel internationally on company business.
