Project Buyer/Expeditor
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting and supporting the Supply Chain Manager in delivery of the procurement activity within Projects.
Key Duties:
- Obtain best value from suppliers of materials, services and consumable goods, on behalf of the Supply Chain Manager. Some travel to other Westinghouse sites and suppliers may be required.
- To plan, place and progress orders for material, services and consumable goods with suppliers while monitoring cost, quality and delivery performance, for project requirements.
- Create reports on the progress of the activity in the placement of material orders for the projects, for inclusion in the reporting by the Supply Chain Manager to the Project Manager.
- Work with the Project System Assurance Authority and Company Quality Department to ensure all suppliers used are approved to the standards required by the project and the Company.
- Work with the project depot Site Manager to ensure that the inventory levels are minimised without compromising the project delivery.
- To assist in the development and maintenance of a sourcing strategy consistent with meeting the company’s and Invensys objectives.
- Meet individual and departmental performance objectives.
- To develop and manage the vendor base to ensure it can meet the current and future objectives of the company.
- Be an effective, professional and respected members of the Supply Chain team, to both internal customers and external suppliers. Maintain high ethical standards and earn a high level of credibility based on trust, teamwork and communication.
- To facilitate continuous improvement within projects and ensure the Supply Chain function is one that leads and influences sourcing decisions.
Requirements:
- Min Diploma/Degree in Procurement, logistics or other related discipline.
- MCIPS Qualified or part-qualified within CIPS, or recognised equivalent.
- Extensive experience in Procurement.
- Computer literate with skills in Excel and Word.
- Good Communicator with ability to influence people.
- Ability to present findings and make recommendations.
- Ability to work as part of a team to tight deadlines.
- Clean driving license.
