Network Operations Engineer
This position will be primarily responsible for:
- Maintaining the automation and ongoing functions of the network infrastructure in Tandberg
- Developing and providing service monitoring tools to ensure high level of system availability
- Working with Tandberg IT Development team to define, develop, and implement operational concepts, standards, and tools in best of breed network infrastructure using industry best practice guidelines
- Acting as escalation point for Tandberg IT Business Support teams for more complex network-related tickets, including Problem Management for root cause analyses and resolution
- Leading in Release Management
- Evaluating, selecting, and interfacing with Remote Operating Centers and Outsourced Service Providers, following up on SLAs
- Defining OLAs in supporting the Business Support teams and providing input on SLAs towards Tandberg’s internal users
- Providing guidance and training to Tandberg IT Business Support teams on network technologies adopted by Tandberg IT
- Keeping abreast of latest network tools and technologies, and constantly evaluating our current network environment in order to provide the best solutions to Tandberg users so that they can maintain the edge over our competitors in our business processes
Technical requirements include:
- Extensive working experience with network tools and technologies in a global network environment
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, Layer 2 and 3 networking, VOIP, ISDN, MPLS, and other protocols like SIP, H323, and H320
- Experience with video networking, especially with Tandberg products, will be a bonus
- Experience with managing communications applications like MS Exchange, MS Office Communication Server (OCS), Blackberry, and ActiveSync is desirable
Non-Technical requirements include:
- Willingness and ability to share knowledge and present ideas confidently either verbally or in written form (FAQ, Knowledgebase, Training Manual etc.) in an organized manner
- Resourcefulness in finding new solutions and technologies to resolve problems or improve current situations
- Able to travel up to 15% of the time
- Able to embrace and adapt to changes
- Thorough and consistent in documenting IT standards and processes
This position requires you to be a team player, working with IT Service Development team to define standards and solutions, acting as mentor and escalation point for Customer Support engineers, and interfacing with Service Managers to formulate SLAs and OLAs in supporting the business. You will need to be sharp on details yet able to see the bigger strategic picture. You will be consistent in ensuring that standards are being followed yet be a champion for changes in introducing new technologies and methodology to the organization. Being nimble is the key
The position requires the ability to proactively work toward achieving optimal performance with respect to specific services and duties globally, with the help of other IT teams and outsourced operational partners. You will be expected to create, document and maintain the processes and work to unify the IT environment into one global and stable standard. The position will also be involved with helping service managers with developing related SLA’S addressing user expectations across the organization.
