Managing Editor

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Publishing Manager, you will be required to plan and manage the publishing programme and a team of editors and freelancers so as to ensure that the Company’s publishing plans are implemented according to schedule. This will include:

Working with the Editorial and Sales & Marketing team in developing new educational titles for the publishing programme.
Commissioning, sourcing and managing a pool of authors.
Final checking of the manuscripts before sending for print.
Ensuring that the editorial team meets deadlines and work quality is maintained.

Requirements

A good university degree in English, Mathematics or Science.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in editorial and publishing, preferably with supervisory experience.
Those with good working knowledge of publishing procedures will have an added advantage.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong command of written English.
Organised and meticulous, with strong initiative and a high sense of urgency.
Able to multi-task, manage various projects and deliver high-quality work under demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Possess good project management and supervisory skills.
Good commercial sense and business acumen.
