IT MANAGER / SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Job Type: Permanent Position

Salary: Based on Skills and Experience + Bonus

The Role:

To support clients development and hosting environments, in a consultative and manageable way, we are looking for a strong individual who can introduce the automation and rigorous process needed to support this environment, as well as the technical skills to implement this.

The System Administrator must possess a strong background in the UNIX OS, preferably with Linux server administration. Other skills include:

Mandatory Skills. Only Apply if You Have These:

• Linux OS, DNS, Virtual Servers , High Availability and Performance, Server Hardening, Shell scripting, System documentation, Backup and disaster recovery
• The applicant must have demonstrable skills in working with svn, ssh , ftp, mail / spam filters, MYSQL, Java Application Server, Monitoring Tool like Nagios
• Other skills that would be valued are LDAP, lotus Notes, CPanel / Plesk, Windows Network

Additional Skills:

• Manages multiple linked databases to include security, data safety and integrity, disaster recovery, and development and implementation of bulk data import/export procedures.
• Plans and implements system security policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permission’s, and user accounts.
• Conducts growth analysis and capacity planning, develops capital and operating budget proposals.
• Designs and develops advanced methods and procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying data for input and/or retrieval.
• Researches, evaluates, purchases, installs, configures, and troubleshoots all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary
• Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
• Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
• Understanding of the administration includes clustering and performance turning of MySQL database.
• System-level security procedures, familiarity with cryptography tools (e.g. Secure SHell, OpenSSL);
• Experience maintaining servers for standard Internet services such as DNS, Mail, Remote Monitoring and FTP service;
• Experience in Configuration Management and knowledge of a versioning system- SVN.
• Experience in web hosting server tools like cpanel and plesk is plus
• Documents the design of the operating environment
