HP-UX System Engineer

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation, maintenance, configuration of critical 24 / 7 HP-UX Server infrastructure to meet current and future needs of the business. This includes operating system and hardware installation, monitoring, backups, and overall health of enterprise class systems. This environment will support HP EVA and Team Centre Engineering using an Oracle Database.
Build and nurture relationships with key users, peers within the organization, key vendors / partners, and professionals in other organizations.
Administration of mission critical 24/7 production HP-UX systems post implementation.
Assist in the maintenance and upgrade of HP-UX servers.
Assist in troubleshooting server / network problems at the core server as well as user level.
Promote a high support level to ensure that user issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
Work with team members to ensure compliance with computer / network-related policies and procedures.
Installing and configuring HP-UX systems, updating them as necessary, and keeping them running properly on a day-to-day basis.
Managing users and user accounts, including both the computer

Requirements:

4 years of experience in administering HP-UX systems (10, 11.0, 11.11, & 11.23 systems)
4 years experience with MC ServiceGuard
Knowledge and experience with the Itanium based Integrity line of HP-UX servers and the legacy PA-RISC line of HP-UX servers.
Knowledge of and experience with integrating the following technologies with HP-UX: DNS / BIND, Shell Scripting, SAN Technologies, Veritas Volume Manager, and TCP/IP Networking Technologies.
Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
The ideal candidate will also have experience running HP-UX in support of EVA, EMC and Oracle Databases and experience with Data Replicator software.
Good Hands on experience on Unix is a must.
Experience with execution of self-audit processes, incident troubleshooting & remediation, and user-drive change requests.
BS in Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years IT experience in a systems engineering role.
