We are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial and energetic individual to join the AET team as a

HEAD OF MARKET DEVELOPMENT, ASIA

Reports to:

Regional Director

Job Responsibilities:

Business Strategy (in collaboration with Group Corporate Planning)

  • Assist the Regional Director to develop short, medium and long-term business strategies to ensure business sustainability and growth in order to achieve the desired profitability targets. In collaboration with Regional Finance, to prepare the annual budget and 5-year business plans.
  • Assist the Regional Director to review the implementation of the business strategies and plans in order that the business targets are met, monitor and complete the regional KPI and Scorecard.
  • Assist the Regional Director to realign business strategies and plans if expected results fall short.

Business Development (in collaboration with Group Corporate Planning)

  • To identify and evaluate new markets (domestic and international) to ensure continuous business survival and growth.
  • To undertake feasibility studies on identified business opportunities and prepare proposals to the management for their consideration and approval.
  • Upon approval, initiate and coordinate business development processes (including business negotiation, if applicable) towards timely implementation of the projects by the relevant parties within the BU, company and external parties.
  • Upon the commencement of the projects, monitor and review its progress in line with the project’s objectives.


Project Economics

  • Undertake financial evaluation to establish financial viability of proposed projects (i.e. new building, investment and divestment) under various business parameters.

Business Portfolio & Asset Management (in collaboration with Regional Head of Chartering)

  • Analyze business mix (Term vs Spot) vis – a – vis prevailing and future market conditions to maximize earnings.
  • Analyze assets positioning in line with prevailing and future market conditions to maximize earnings and minimize losses.

Market Research (in collaboration with Regional Head of Chartering)

  • Formulate and design research methodology and processes in line with business requirements.
  • Undertake market research to identify potential business opportunities and threats.
  • Prepare market reports or position papers for the purpose of business review and planning.
  • Supervise proper management of relevant market data and information for references in decision making and business development activities.

Business Relationship Building

  • Develop and maintain good business relationship with business partners to facilitate data gathering and business development activities.

Staff Development

  • Develop, motivate, train and coach subordinates to achieve higher productivity in meeting the departmental objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate Degree in Business Studies / Economics / Engineering or Upper class degree in Business related subject or MBA
  • Professionally qualified in Marketing or Business Development discipline
  • 10 years experience related to research, financial evaluation, strategic planning and business development.
  • Sound knowledge of market research methodologies, strategic planning, and of best practices in business development & CRM best practices
  • Resourceful in seeking accurate and timely information
  • Analytical and Strategic Thinker
  • Able to build and motivate project team toward business goals plan and see through implementation
