What absolute advantage does Australia have over other countries and through which products?

I have an international business portfolio that requires me to research Australia over the entire semester and hand in all my answers at the end of the semester in January. Also, if you could answer some of my other Australia questions that would be much appreciated.

An abundance of minerals, iron ore, uranium, zinc,etc, is the main advantage, but that is being overturned by the current rise in the A$ against the US$.
Australia also has large wheat growing areas to supply 3rd world countries with relatively cheap food. They only other advantage at the moment is that, because of the high dollar overseas tourism is currently cheaper, but that that is out weighed by the fact that overseas tourists find it too expensive to come here.

why Australia anyways?

It mainly comes down to the fact that we have so many natural resources and that gives us quite a lot of power to control various parts of the world. If we stop digging up uranium then parts of the world would go without electricity. We have a very unique position being the only "western" country in the Asia region, which means we have really strong partnerships and link in Asia (trade agreements, business links, political links etc etc) but also really strong links with Europe and the US. Our position will become increasingly important to the US especially as we enter a new era with China and North Korea, as we are the predominant "western" contact within these regions.

We also have a large business sector (most European/American companies have offices in Australia), a really strong local and global economy, strong trade links, big, busy international airports in every big city, and lots of people coming in/out for business, leisure and studies.

Our tourism industries are very strong and will always be a bit of a backup in case everything else falls apart. Our government likes to think of itself as big and powerful (but they are just dreaming) and are very forward thinking.
