What are his good books and why did you recommend it? Is "When you are engulfed in flames" good?

ok i was at borders and bought something to drink and looked for a book to read. i picked up When You Are Engulfed in Flames and found it pretty interesting (had no former knowledge of sedaris) as i was reading i came upon clues that he was homosexual and it was obvious by the time the zoo scene ended. upon realizing this i put the book down and read brimmer. is that pretty homophobic or not.

I couldnt;go.. Ithink youhad to purchase one of his books to get in. Is this something new? I used to go to author readings at B & n and no one made you buy the book to hear the author read! oh. Well I went to hear TC Boyle read and I think he's pretty popular and no one had to buy a book!

i love their short stories--how some can make you hurt with laughter while others leave you with that gloom and doom feeling. I was wondering if you guys knew of any other authors with the same style?

Have any of you read the new David Sedaris book yet? I'm going to buy it tonight.

Are his books geared more towards women or have men been known to read his books as well? I really need something new to read.
