I have 2 computers at home, Windows Vista on my laptop and Windows XP on my desktop. This desktop has been with me for almost five years now. Yeaa I know, it’s an old Pentium 4 2.26GHz with 768MB of RAM. I always try to keep my Windows Vista with minimum software installed, but not on my windows XP. On that desktop I installed everything from games, office applications and development applications for my websites.

Due to the number of applications installed on my desktop, sometimes it runs quite slow that I have to wait few minutes to let it do whatever process that it’s currently doing. And the worst time is when I have to deal with all kind of viruses, spyware and even adware. It’s kinda hard to keep up with all those anti virus and anti spyware or even adware removal tools out there as those culprits always evolve day after day. I often have to do a system restore once in a while to keep my system fast enough for me to do my daily jobs.

However, about three days ago I stumbled a website that provide a web-based service / maintenance / system service for Windows XP that can fix the problems and bring it back like a new smooth and “shiny” system. It’s Reimage Home Edition.

Video: How the technology works

As you can see from the illustration in the video above, the repair process is done automatically using an ActiveX control which you need to install and run with internet explorer. It analyzes and performs the repair process automagically giving you peace of mind when working with your Windows XP.

There are various things that can be fixed using this tool such as:

  • Windows pop up message: “Task manager has been disabled by your administrator”
  • Antivirus 2009/2008 wallpaper and IE hijack
  • XP installation made years ago… Slow and tend to sporadically hang — just like mine
  • Clicking on Internet Explorer icon creates shortcuts on the desktop instead of opening the browser
  • STOP 0׳0000007B is prevents you from booting Windows in Safe Mode
  • and much more! See here for more.

They also have a blog! Reimage blog is another good blog to see latest update of their PC repair tool. In that blog they provide a quite comprehensive post about the tool as well as comparisons with other automatic PC repair tools, anti viruses, anti spyware or even registry cleaner.

Have a try and let me know what you think!
